We are passionate about

Wine
innovation

since 1209

A house A farm

Founded more than 800 years ago as the estate farm of the Lilienfeld Abbey, the Brandl wine estate has been in the same family since the 18th century.

We are bringing the art of winemaking into the 21st century by combining tradition with a willingness to innovate.

Soils that

write

wine history

The power lies in the terroir, which transforms the treasures of the vine into wine legends. We use the cool of the night and the thawing material to bring fruit-forward moisture into the bottle after careful grape selection and cold fermentation.

The result? A small glass with dinner, a quarter for balmy summer nights on the terrace or a bottle to go – we have not yet invented a wine that does not please the palate.

A glass of Tradition,
7/8 of Innovation

Tradition at heart

arrow

Everything that makes up the Brandl Wine Estate today has been prepared by the family over centuries. Since 1209 as an estate of the Abbey of Lilienfeld with a mixed operation typical of the time, and from 1993 as a specialized wine-growing estate. This history can still be felt today in our newly opened tasting room in Radlbrunn, which was built over the historic original cellar.

Sustainability in mind

The soil provides what man brings in. We were among the first to use manual and mechanical defoliation of the grape zone with compressed air blowers. This allows us to avoid using chemicals such as copper or sulfur – and therefore also to avoid organic certification – in order to get as much fruitiness as possible into the bottle. By the way: anyone who buys from us can return all bottles to us, which saves energy and resources.

Focus on innovation

We experiment and continue what works. We are constantly expanding our knowledge and passing it on to the next generation. And we preserve the wine tradition of yesterday with today's technologies. This is the aim of the Brandl family, and this approach ensures distinctive wines with the typical characteristics of our terroir.

Care for an example? Since 2024, Riesling has also been available in 1150-liter granite barrels, which emphasize the stone fruit aromas while being easy on the stomach.
